Twitch is the newest platform to try and compete with the likes of Steam and Origin, with their own game store. Their hook is that they stat that you’ll be able to get “great games into your hands faster” as well as being rewarded with “goodies”. When purchasing games via a specific streamer’s page, the streamer will earn a percentage of the game sale. This store is available through the newly released Twitch app, for computers.
At launch, only PC games are available, but Twitch has hinted towards other platforms being available in the future. Most of the games available just need the Twitch app to be installed, although some of them still require third-party programs, like Origin or uPlay.
There are over 50 games available currently. Some of the more popular ones are:
BATMAN — The Telltale Series
Minecraft: Story Mode
The Walking Dead
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands
Watch Dogs 2
If you spend more than $4.99 in the store, you will earn a “Twitch Crate”, which will have randomly generated rewards located inside. Some of these rewards are Twitch emotes, badges and Bits.
Although you can purchase games worldwide, the store only supports U.S dollars. Twitch have stated that they are planning on adding additional currencies in the coming months.
